How Surrogates Are Screened and Selected at Surrogacy4All

Introduction

Becoming a surrogate is one of the most generous and life-changing decisions a woman can make. But not everyone is qualified. At Surrogacy4All, we take great care in screening every surrogate to ensure the safety, success, and integrity of the journey. Our process is thorough, respectful, and designed to support both the surrogate and the intended parents. In this blog, we outline how we screen, evaluate, and guide every potential surrogate through our proven selection process.

Step 1: Online Application and Eligibility Questions

The journey begins with a brief online form. We ask about your:

  • Age (21–42)
  • Height and weight (BMI under 32 preferred)
  • Number of previous pregnancies (at least one full-term birth required)
  • Medical history
  • Lifestyle factors (smoking, drug use, etc.)

Step 2: Intake Interview with Our Surrogacy Advisor

Once you pass the initial screening, you’ll meet with a member of our team via phone or video. We’ll review your answers and get to know your:

  • Motivation for becoming a surrogate
  • Support system (family, spouse, friends)
  • Expectations about the journey
  • Preferences for intended parents (LGBTQ+, single parents, etc.)

Step 3: OB/GYN Records Review

We request and review your pregnancy and delivery records to confirm you’ve had healthy, uncomplicated births. If you’ve had C-sections or twins, we ensure your body is ready for another pregnancy. A medical director signs off before we proceed.

Step 4: Criminal and Financial Background Check

To ensure safety and transparency, we run background checks on you and your spouse or partner (if applicable). We also confirm your financial stability to prevent undue stress during the journey.

Step 5: Mental Health Screening

A licensed mental health professional will conduct an interview and psychological test (such as the MMPI or PAI). This ensures emotional readiness, stability, and an understanding of the surrogacy process.

Step 6: Matching with Intended Parents

Once approved, we match you with a family based on mutual preferences and personalities. You’ll meet them via video call before finalizing the match. Many surrogates develop lifelong friendships with their intended parents.

Step 7: Legal and Fertility Clinic Screening

You’ll undergo blood tests, ultrasounds, and physical exams at the IVF clinic. Meanwhile, your attorney (paid by the intended parents) helps you review and sign your surrogacy agreement.
