The State of New York has taken on the responsibility of licensing Surrogacy Agencies in the USA starting in 2021.
The requirements to be licensed are extremely onerous. These include requiring the Agency to carry a $1 million+ Insurance policy, criminal background checks undertaken for the Agency Officers by a Private Detective firm, strict written procedures for protecting the interests of the Surrogate and Intended Parents, and various other requirements.
Only 28 Agencies in the USA are so currently licensed out of perhaps a 1,000 Surrogacy Agencies in the country. Our Agency www.Surrogacy4All.com was duly licensed after almost a 12 month long rigorous due diligence process.
The good news is that if you select a licensed Agency, you will know that you have picked one that is legally qualified and certified to help you have your bundle of joy!
Once you’ve narrowed down your list of potential agencies, it’s time to do some more in-depth research. Read reviews from past clients and contact the agencies directly to ask questions.
You should also check to make sure the agency is insured, licensed by the FDA, licensed by New York State and accredited.
When you’ve found an agency that you feel comfortable with, it’s important to ask questions about the surrogacy process. Find out what services the agency provides, such as legal advice, medical care, and counselling. Ask about the cost of the surrogacy process and any other fees that may be associated with it.
