Two personal stories are shared by Nora and Samantha, offering insight into the fertility journeys of trans women.
Nora Broker transitioned a few years ago and preserved sperm before her transition. Despite banking several samples, the quality was lower than expected. After transition, she and her partner pursued IVF, facing emotional challenges, especially when it seemed the cycle might fail due to insufficient sperm. Fortunately, Nora and her partner are now expecting their first child, marking a joyful milestone after a difficult journey.
Samantha Jo-Dato transitioned in the late 1990s and recently de-transitioned temporarily to bank sperm for future family planning. She shares the emotional and physical challenges of de-transitioning after many years, as well as the struggle to obtain enough viable sperm.
Both stories highlight the resilience, planning, and emotional complexity involved in navigating fertility as a trans woman, and offer hope and perspective for those considering similar paths.
