How to Use the Embryo Transfer Planning Calculator

The embryo transfer planning calculator helps intended parents organize their available embryos and explore different transfer-planning scenarios. Start by entering the number of embryos available, then select the embryo stage, PGT-A status, desired number of children, and planned transfer attempts. You can also optionally enter a clinic-estimated transfer success probability provided by your treating clinic. After entering the information, click “Calculate Planning Scenario” to see an educational overview of your embryo inventory and selected planning scenario.

Factors Included in the Embryo Transfer Planning Calculator

  • Number of Embryos Available: Enter the number of embryos currently available for your planning scenario.
  • Embryo Stage: Select the developmental stage of the embryos, such as the stage relevant to your transfer planning.
  • PGT-A Status: Indicate the current PGT-A status of your embryos for planning context.
  • Desired Number of Children: Select your intended family-building goal. This is used only as a planning scenario and does not determine how many embryos are required.
  • Planned Transfer Attempts: Select the number of transfer attempts you want to model in the planning scenario. The calculator does not recommend how many attempts you should have.
  • Clinic-Estimated Transfer Success Probability: Optionally enter the transfer probability provided by your fertility clinic. This percentage is used only for an illustrative mathematical scenario and is not an individual medical prediction.

What Does the Embryo Transfer Planning Calculator Show?

The calculator provides an educational overview of your embryos available, planned transfer attempts, and remaining embryos after the selected scenario. If you enter a clinic-provided success probability, it can also show an illustrative mathematical probability of at least one success. These results are for planning purposes only and do not assess embryo quality or viability, recommend the number of embryos to transfer, or predict pregnancy or live-birth outcomes. Medical decisions should be made with your treating reproductive endocrinologist and embryology team.

FAQs

There is no universal number. The answer depends on embryo characteristics, family goals, clinic recommendations and individual medical circumstances.

That is a medical decision. The calculator must not recommend single- versus multiple-embryo transfer.

Yes, but only as an optional user-entered clinic estimate and with a clear warning that the mathematical scenario is not an individual prognosis.
