Gestational Surrogacy for a Same-Sex Male Couple
Background / Challenge
A male same-sex couple approached Surrogacy4All seeking to build their family. They had already completed genetic screening, chosen donor eggs and sperm, and wanted to proceed with gestational surrogacy in the U.S.
However, they encountered legal hurdles in one of the intended parent’s home jurisdictions that delayed the parental rights process.
They were also concerned about matching with a surrogate with ideal health profile, good obstetric history, and psychological readiness.
Our Approach & Strategy
We guided them through selecting a surrogate from our pre-screened surrogate network, ensuring rigorous medical, psychological, and background checks.
We collaborated with attorneys in both U.S. and the intended parents’ home country to craft a dual-jurisdiction legal strategy.
We arranged frequent virtual consultations, shared milestone updates, and coordinated logistics (travel, insurance, hormonal protocols) across borders.
We also planned contingency backup (alternate surrogate plan, backup embryo plan) to mitigate the risk of surrogate withdrawal or failed transfer.
Outcome & Results
First embryo transfer succeeded, resulting in a healthy twin pregnancy.
The pregnancy progressed smoothly; delivery was via planned cesarean at 37 weeks in a partner hospital.
Both babies were delivered healthy, and post-birth the legal proceedings established both intended parents as legal parents in all relevant jurisdictions.
The couple returned home with their children, supported by our post-natal liaison team.
Key Insights / Lessons
Legal planning early on is critical, especially for cross-jurisdiction parentage.
A robust surrogate screening and matching process reduces risk and fosters trust.
Transparent communication and logistical coordination (visas, travel, insurance) make a big difference in client experience.
Surrogacy After Repeated IVF Failures in a Woman with Uterine Factor
Background / Challenge
A female client with a history of repeated IVF failures and a uterine abnormality (e.g. Asherman’s syndrome or prior surgery) sought surrogacy as an alternative route.
She had good quality embryos (euploid), but uterine implantation had repeatedly failed.
Our Approach & Strategy
We first re-evaluated her embryo banking history and confirmed embryo quality via PGT (preimplantation genetic testing).
We recommended use of a gestational surrogate with optimal uterine receptivity.
We transferred one euploid embryo to the surrogate under a controlled hormone replacement protocol (estrogen + progesterone) with close monitoring (endometrial thickness, blood markers).
We used advanced monitoring (ultrasound Doppler, endometrial receptivity assays if needed) and supplemented with support (adjuncts like low-dose aspirin, heparin if indicated).
We maintained open communication with the client (sharing ultrasounds, hormone levels) to keep her emotionally engaged and confident in the process.
Outcome & Results
The transfer resulted in a single viable pregnancy.
The surrogate’s pregnancy course was unremarkable; delivery was at 39 weeks, healthy baby born with no complications.
The client later served as an active co-parent, bonding with the baby, and reported high satisfaction with the transparency and support offered.
Key Insights / Lessons
Surrogacy is a viable solution when uterine implantation is the barrier despite high-quality embryos.
Even in challenging reproductive histories, a tailored protocol plus careful surrogate selection can yield success.
Ongoing emotional support and transparency help the client feel engaged rather than sidelined.
International Client Seeking Surrogacy with Embryo Shipping
Background / Challenge
An international couple (residing outside U.S.) contracted Surrogacy4All to facilitate gestational surrogacy in the U.S.
Their embryos were created in their local IVF clinic, and they needed safe, legal embryo transport to a U.S. IVF lab.
They also needed to match with a U.S. surrogate, manage cross-country logistics, and comply with both U.S. and their home country laws.
Our Approach & Strategy
We coordinated with shipping specialists to transport frozen embryos under validated cryogenic protocols (liquid nitrogen dry shipper, customs clearance, chain of custody).
At the U.S. IVF lab, embryos were thawed and tested for viability, then transferred to the matched U.S. surrogate under hormone replacement protocol.
We engaged immigration, travel, and legal teams to handle visa arrangements, surrogate travel (if needed for delivery), and parental documentation.
We provided frequent remote updates, video check-ins, and ensured emotional support across time zones.
Outcome & Results
The shipped embryo survived thaw with >90% viability, and implantation was successful.
The surrogate delivered a healthy singleton baby via planned delivery in a hospital with neonatal facilities.
Intended parents traveled to the U.S. for the birth and completed post-birth legal steps (birth certificate, passport, dual citizenship) with our legal support.
Key Insights / Lessons
Embryo shipping is feasible with rigorous planning, validated protocols, and trusted logistics partners.
Legal and immigration coordination is fundamental from the outset for international clients.
Transparent updates and remote engagement help clients feel in control across distance.
